Resources for Students

Department Handbook

The Department Handbook provides students in the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance with a summary of the policies and procedures of the department. You should read it carefully and keep it with your other academic program materials for reference. You should also, of course, become familiar with:

Co-curricular activities

As a Theatre Arts and Dance student, you should involve yourself in one of the production activities closely related to your studies.

Participation in such activities will help to give material you are learning in the classroom greater meaning, it will provide you with experience, and it will give you a way that can demonstrate to potential employers your capabilities and your interest in the field. It also will allow you to work with and get to know other students with similar interests. And it should be fun as well.

Auditions for productions and requests for crew assignments are done the first week of classes. If you are reluctant to get involved because you don’t know anyone, keep in mind that all those people who seem to be so at home in the theatre also walked in one day without knowing anyone else.
