Alpha Psi Omega Dramatic Honorary Fraternity
- Alpha Psi Omega was organized as an honorary dramatic fraternity for the purpose of providing an honor society for those doing a high standard of work in theatre and, to provide a wider fellowship for those interested in theatre. Alpha Psi Omega has given national recognition to student participants of drama productions, building morale and self esteem.
- The Loyola New Orleans chapter, Alpha Alpha Chi, was formed July 1991.
- As students qualify, they are rewarded by election to membership in this society.
- Membership recognizes students who have given service in both performance and non-performance capacities. Consideration for membership is obtained through a tracking of the production activities for Loyola University Theatre productions only. The officers of the Alpha Alpha Chi cast of Alpha Psi Omega determine the points awarded for each assignment. A sample listing of the points follows. When a prospective member has received the total number of points required, an invitation is issued for membership. Initiation is held annually at a time scheduled by the membership.
- Organizational projects have included distribution of production T-shirts,
funding for senior projects, the end-of-year picnic, the new student
mentoring program and workshops.
