Mark J. Davis has been practicing law for over 24 years and his specialty is copyright and entertainment law. He is currently Of Counsel to Eveline Davis & Phillips, New Orleans' premier music and entertainment law firm. Fully 80 percent of its practice is focused on copyright and contract issues as they apply to musical artists, songwriters, record labels, advertising agencies, and licensors of musical works. In addition to music publishing administration, catalogue sales, and other transactional matters, Davis represents songwriters, publishers, labels and artists in copyright infringement suits in Federal court in Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. He held a special appointment from the Librarian of Congress as an Arbitrator for the Copyright Office. His panel allocated over $89,000,000 in cable TV rebroadcast royalties among 3,500 motion picture and television studio claimants. Davis has been a guest lecturer at many universities, law schools, and music conferences. He has been with the College of Music faculty since 2001.
