Jesse Boyd came to New Orleans in 1988 after touring the West Coast for 10 years with various bands. He attended Loyola University New Orleans and studied bass with Bill Huntington, Betsy Heston, and Allen Nisbet. He continued his jazz studies at the University of New Orleans, where he earned his master of music degree. Along with teaching, he performs nearly 500 engagements each year. He has been with the College of Music faculty since 1998.
