James Atwood's performing experience ranges from the recording studios of the advertising industry to concert halls around the world as timpanist and percussionist with the Mexico City Philharmonic. He has performed with the National Repertory Orchestra and the Colorado Music Festival. He has been an active timpani clinician, appearing in master classes across the country, as well as teaching at the Cloyd Duff Timpani master classes at Colorado State University. In 1992, Atwood hosted the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. He has been with the College of Music faculty since 1989.
